A "No Confidence Vote" from ICE

Obama’s headlong rush to secure amnesty (read that votes) for illegal aliens who have crossed our porous border are getting some push-back from the agents involved. ICE union president Chris Crane forwarded a letter with this opening paragraph in early June to the president:

“On June 11, 2010, the National Immigration and Customs Enforcement Council and its constituent local representatives from around the nation, acting on behalf of approximately 7,000 ICE officers and employees from the ICE Office of Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), cast a unanimous “Vote of No Confidence” in the Director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), John Morton, and the Assistant Director of the ICE Office of Detention Policy and Planning, (ODPP), Phyllis Coven.”

For more on the letter and the agents unified disenchantment with the administration’s failures in enforcement is available at Center for Immigration Stucies website.  There, they outline the problems they have faced trying to enforce laws in the face of ridiculous regulations and restraints from above. You will find that the disconnect between the mission of ICE and the means presented for them to do their job horrifying.

You host has a substantial body of family who live right on top of the one the most notorious border hot spots in Arizona. As residents of Tucson and with business interests in Cochise Country their observations mirror many of the concerns which the agents express in the article.

This has been soft-pedaled so far but as it leaks out, it will become greater by the day. One of the more fascinating aspects in the matter is the conflict between the union interest by the agents and the presidents agenda. Unfortunately for Obama, he is pitting one favored group against another.

If you have the slightest interest in the issue of secure borders, click on the link to this story above. It is essential information.
