Jacob is teaching 3 homeschool children math and ornithology on Thursdays while their mom teaches a class at MTU.

AdrienneAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4037457696217227495.post-12307603771931940132008-11-20T19:33:00.000-08:002008-11-20T19:33:00.000-08:00Cec, We have had snow for 5 days now. We have not seen the sun for over a week but there is so much beauty to enjoy by God's handy work we are all in bright spirits.

The birds at our feeders are just beautiful. Chickadees, Redbreasted Nuthatches, Purple Finches, the ever persistant Blue Jays!

We have some deer in the yard every night and I see them between the woods and fields as well.

Tonight the temperature is suppose to dip to 3 degrees F.

Philip said in the month of August there were no solar flares. The frequency of solar flares have been decreasing. That is a part of the normal eleven year cycle. We are expecting some colder winters and 300 or more inches of snow!

You and Jan are welcome to come for a visit if you are missing the road to Gwinn or Calumet or Copper Harbor or Freeda. We call the road to Freeda the covered road as the trees cover the road from the sky above and hold the road be in place. In winter it is snow covered with huge snowbanks on either side. Did I mention those that travel the road share one lane for both directions!

Love you!

AdrienneAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4037457696217227495.post-22906720138330657542008-11-17T16:32:00.000-08:002008-11-17T16:32:00.000-08:00also by the way,I love goldfinches and cardinals.w...also by the way,
I love goldfinches and cardinals.

what is a junco?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4037457696217227495.post-6026756899840896922008-11-17T16:29:00.000-08:002008-11-17T16:29:00.000-08:00Cecil,As a scientist this is a subject near and de...Cecil,
As a scientist this is a subject near and dear to me. (not global warming- but the veracity of data and the manipulation of same)
I am the director of research and development for a corporation that supplies materials to the aerospace industry. One of my ongoing struggles is to keep people on focus with regard to experimental design, collection of data and proper analysis of data.
Any scientist can craft experiments to yield data that will support his or her bias. There is nothing wrong with this if the same scientist also conducts experiements that will counter his or her bias and then seek to understand the implications of that.
My point: data does not always mean truth

Your blog today brings out a related but different point and no less concerning. That is, just simply making a mistake. (I won't even go into the possibility of maliciously altering or reporting data).
Mistakes are one reason any reports coming out of my lab go through no less than four sets of eyes before release. Even then, we do not always catch errors and have to come back with amendments.

While this is very pertinent to me as a professional scientist and manager, it also has deep implications for me as a disciple of Christ. It is what "works" for me with regard to the Restoration Movement.
btw, global warming as popularly conceived is a hoax in my professional opinion.
MattAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
